Quickie QS5 X Lightweight Aluminium Folding Wheelchair

Introducing the QUICKIE QS5 X, the wheelchair that redefines easy folding thanks to FreeFold - an innovative cross-brace design that reduces folding forces and saves you over 40% energy with every fold! The QS5 X makes light work of lifting, with an (optional) folding fastener that keeps the wheelchair tightly locked to prevent any unintentional opening during transport.

With a usable transport weight of just 16 lbs*, it's the lightest aluminium box frame wheelchair. Lock the heat-treated 7000-series aluminium frame in place, and its oval-tubed 4-arm cross-brace provides the ride performance to rival any rigid wheelchair. The QS5 X saves not only your energy, but your shoulders, too.

*Chair weight is calculated based on a 16"x16" seat dimension with back upholstery, side guards, and wheel locks. Transport weight is calculated with items that can be easily removed (i.e., swing-away footrests, armrests, rear wheels, and seating products).

Folding Performance

FreeFold - Over 40% energy saved with every fold.

The QS5 X is easy to fold, and it stays folded - thanks to the innovative FreeFold feature. FreeFold stands for sophisticated and precise engineering of the folding geometry, resulting in particularly little force needed to fold and unfold. During folding, the wheel camber does not change, and the folded wheelchair stands solidly on the ground - a real benefit if you are frequently folding and transporting your chair.

Fold-n-Lock

This (optional) feature conveniently keeps the chair securely folded. With a simple "click", your wheelchair can now remain in a compact fold. No need to hold it closed while lifting or storing!

Ovalised Tubing

The ovalised tubing (also used on the Nitrum) of the QS5 X's 4-arm cross-brace is stiffer, stronger and lighter than conventional round tubes. This makes it less likely to flex under pressure, providing outstanding rigidity & reduced flex when riding and effortless folding.

Sleek and Modern Lines

The QS5 X features a minimal design with hidden adjustments and seamlessly integrated caster link tubes. Few visible screws or holes to compromise aesthetics - this gives your QS5 X a stylish and sophisticated appearance.

A remarkably low usable transport weight from 16 lbs. for the Fixed Front frame and 16.5 lbs. for the Swing-Away frame! As the lightest aluminium folding box frame on the market, the QS5 X is not only comfortable to lift and transport, but also effortless to self-propel. The material and construction make all the difference - strong doesn't always have to mean heavy. The frame of the QS5 X is made of high-grade 7000-series aluminium, designed for an exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio and is used in many aerospace applications where strength, durability, and weight are essential factors.

Perfect Companion for Power Assist Devices

The QS5 X can be paired seamlessly with a variety of power assist devices - for example, the Empulse R90. When combined with the QS5 X's 7000-series aluminium side frame, the two are engineered to withstand the stress the power assist technology places on manual wheelchairs, delivering exceptional durability and performance.

Superior Rigidity

Heat-treating the aluminium frame by using our proprietary manufacturing process allows the frame to be thinner and lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a chair that is surprisingly easy to lift and transfers more of your push to the wheels.

Frame Versions: Fixed-Front or Swing-Away

The QS5 X is available with two different frame versions: Fixed-Front and Swing-Away.

The Fixed-Front version has footrests that are permanently attached to the chair frame, providing additional stability and support. This feature can be particularly beneficial for people with higher positioning demands, as it helps to keep the legs in an ideal position.

The Swing-Away version has footrests that can be swung away to the side, which enables a safe and comfortable transfer into the chair, especially from a standing position. By removing the footrest, it's possible to position the wheelchair closer to the object you want to transfer to. Furthermore, the pack size of the wheelchair will be minimised.

Smart Options

Bright, removable LED lights

In many situations, it's good to have your own light - if you need to go to the bathroom at night and don't want to illuminate the whole house, or if you're on your way home in the evening and need to see obstacles that could throw you off balance. The QS5 X's LED lights are a great solution! Discreetly integrated into the overall design of the QS5 X and removable for charging, the LED lights provide a great feature to light your way when you need them!

Ergonomic Touch Points

The QS5 X features touch points on the caster link, knee bend, and back frame that provide a comfortable grip to prevent slipping in transfer or transport situations. Rider input makes these touch points one of many consumer-led innovations. They allow for easy lifting and reduce strains on your wrists, especially during daily use. Additionally, they protect the wheelchair frame from scratches.

Patented Caster-Link - Always Straight Tracking

Thanks to our patented 3-way adjustable caster-links, it's possible to adjust the straight tracking of the QS5 X. Straight tracking means less energy loss in counter-steering!
